I’ve FINALLY moved out of the cabins and into the retreats so I should be able to post a lot more. We stay in the cabins the campers would stay in for the first two weeks of camp for group bonding or whatever but they are not fun to be in for that length of time! I was brushing my teeth one morning and felt something crawling up my back under my shirt, a scorpion none the less! Eugh.

This week we had Camp Janus out which is for kids with burns. It has been the most incredible few days. It’s weird because I don’t remember liking it as much last year, probably because I was nervous. This year was just so much fun and I met so many more campers too. It always makes me question myself and how I would act if I was placed in their situation. So many of them have lost fingers or limbs and when I ask myself the question as to how I would cope if I lost an arm or a leg, I genuinely don’t think I could cope the way these kids have. They have so much confidence and energy and I feel so blessed to have the opportunity to hang out with them for a few days. (It still baffles me that I get paid to do this job!)

So yes, another wonderful week at CFA!

I’ve uploaded a few photos, me on the power pole and with some campers. I’m not entirely sure I’m allowed to do that but oh well..

Update!

Alright, so. Sorry I haven’t updated in a while! I’ve had a lack of internet access and it’s been really busy here. I made my way to camp last thursday and worked the camp that was out for the weekend. It was a camp for people with MS and it was AMAZING. It’s got me completely pumped for the summer. At the minute we’re doing orientation, so basically learning how to do everything. It’s a wee bit boring considering I’ve done it all before but it’s a fantastic group of staff and I can’t wait for the campers to get here! OK I will try and keep you updated a bit sooner. Miss you all!

Safe and Sound!

It took 26 hours and 3 flights to get here but I made it alive!

There was a 30 minute delay before my flight to Austin took off and as we sat on the plane wondering why we hadn’t left, the captain announced they were having problems with the steering and to fix it they were going to “turn the aircraft off and on, because they work just like a laptop”……. Needless to say I lost all hope that I was going to survive.

Nothing exciting as of yet, camp starts on Friday. Just wanted to say I’m here safe and sound!
